Police said that 19-year-old Varsha Alva, was snapping photos of herself at a scenic stretch of railroad tracks when the passenger train slammed into her. Alva died instantly, while her friend, Rachana, lost her arm. Alva was a student at Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology.
According to the police investigation, the teens were busy taking pictures and did not hear or see the approaching train. Rachana is recovering at a hospital. The teens managed to upload several photos to the Internet before the train slammed into them. The photos have since gone viral.
