A family is angry after a church refused to bury a long time member because she didn’t pay her membership while she was in a coma, FOX26 reported.

Fourth Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Walter Houston said that it was because she wasn’t up to date with her membership payments.

Blair daughter, Barbara Day, said that her only wish was for her mother to be buried in the church she loved and adored all her life, even as a child. Day said that her mother had been ill and in a coma for the last 2 years.

When the pastor was urged to reconsider his position, Houston refused, saying that Blair was no longer a member of the church because she had not supported it financially.

“All that matters to him is getting the money,” Day said. A good Samaritan even offered to pay for the service, but Houston still refused saying, “membership has its privileges.”
