The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command has paraded 49 suspected pipeline vandals in different parts of the state.19 teenagers were among those paraded by the NSCDC in Port harcourt.

According to the corps commandant, Helen Amakiri, 37 of the suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Navy before they were handed over to the NSCDC, while the remaining 12 suspects were arrested by operatives of the corps at Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Kpor in Gokana and Azubie in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

“In our determination to put an end to oil pipeline vandalism, 49 suspects were arrested. Out of this number, 37 suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Navy while others were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,” Amakiri said.

She however stated further investigation would be carried out by the corps and those found guilty would be prosecuted.
