Court drops torture charges against Ugandan Nanny caught on Camera assaulting a toddler

On Friday , the earlier charges of torture against Uganda nanny , Jolly Tumuhirwe, were dropped after prosecutors said they could not be easily proven (full story here). This means she won’t be facing up to 15 years in jail again. She was instead found guilty of assault and now faces up to 5 years in jail.

The abuse came to light when the child’s father, Eric Kamanzi, installed acamera in his home after noticing his daughter was bruised and limping. She is due to be sentenced on next week Monday. On Monday, she asked the court, the parents and Ugandans to forgive her.
