The suit was based on the argument that Mr. Jonathan had taken the oath of office twice, and was by law ineligible for a third, should he win.
Mr. Jonathan took the oath as president when he took over from the late President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2010, and again when he won his election in 2011. In a ruling Wednesday, the court quashed the case and awarded N50,000 cost to the president, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
