House of Representatives to ban Hiace buses due to Bayelsa accident which claimed lives of 11 female members

House of Reps on Thursday mandated the house Committee on Land Transport to investigate the use of Hiace buses for commercial transportation. The investigation became imperative after an accident involving 11 female supporters of Nigeria’s First Lady who lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash that occurred on Val’s day.

Honorable Stella Dorgu (Bayelsa-PDP), who moved the motion raised the concern that the buses often burst into flames in the event of accident.

Question to ponder over

• Numerous people have been involved in this types of accident, what was done?
• Prominent women were set ablaze by this hiace bus, house of Rep responds, are they more important than other Nigerian citizen that faced this same fate?
• When the bus is ban, are there contingency plans for the bus drive who will be made jobless?
