PDP and APC to be Restrained from Contesting Elections

An Abuja-based legal practitioner Babatunde Bamigboye on Tuesday, March 18, 2015 filed a fresh suit before the Federal High Court, Abuja seeking to restrain both the PDP and the APC from participating in the forthcoming elections.

The two major political parties in the country, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) maybe restrained from participating in the polls.

According to Daily Trust report published online, the suit asked the court to declare that the programme as well as the aims and objects of PDP and APC did not conform to the fundamental objectives and directive principles of the State policy.

In a 16-paragraph affidavit in support of the suit, deposed to by the plaintiff, he stated that the international community is also apprehensive of the violations of right to life and national peace and thus initiated the Abuja Peace Accord.

As at the time of compiling this report, both the PDP and APC are yet to release statement on the fresh suit.
