Workers in Ebonyi State Commence an Indefinite Strike Action
Workers in Ebonyi State College of Education, under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions, have gone on strike indifinately. This was disclosed in a statement made available to Punch on Saturday.The Statement was signed by the Chairman of the College of Education Academic Staff Union, Greg Esheya, the Chairman, Non-academic Staff Union; Chinenye Onuenyim; and the Chairman SSUCEON, Eugene Onu.
The workers said they embarked on the industrial action for non-payment of arrears of new salary structures by the state government. According to them, they are want better condition of service, gazetting of the college employees and payment of terminal benefits to deceased employees and those who have retired from service in the college.
The workers said,
“We are adopting this measure as a last resort, as all peaceful and friendly dispositions towards the management and government have failed to yield the desired fruit.”Subscribe to Maryann Live by Email
