Police in Imo state have arrested a 40-year-old man, Bright Okodua, who specializes in manufacturing fake Guinness stout. According to the state commissioner of police, AbdulMajid Ali, the suspect was caught in the act and arrested at Mgbidi, Oru West local government of the state.

The suspect confessed to the crime and said he resorted to it to survive after all his search for employment yielded no fruit. Narrating how he manufactures the fake beer, he said what he does it to buy crown corks and empty Stout bottles from the staff of Guinness Nig plc and then fill them with the content of Legend extra stout.

He said he has been arrested before for the same act but usually bribes his way out with N500. “I bought the big stout empty bottles for N500 and poured Legend beer inside them, after washing the bottle thoroughly. I had been arrested several times and I was let go after paying N500. I am here because I didn’t have money to pay again” he said.
