World soccer-governing body, FIFA, has given Nigeria till midday of Friday, 31 October 2014 to resolve the current crisis rocking the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, or face suspension.

The directive was contained in a letter by FIFA’s Secretary-General, Jerome Valcke, addressed to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick. According to FIFA, the Friday deadline was given in order to give Nigeria a last opportunity to avoid a lengthy suspension.

FIFA said that if they do not receive proof that the case has been withdrawn from court and the board elected on 30 September is able to carry out its activities without any hindrance, they would refer the case to FIFA Emergency Committee for implementation of the suspension.

It would be recalled that a court in Jos last week nullified the 30 September election which brought in Amaju Pinnick as President of the NFF board. Following the judgement, Chris Giwa immediately took over and nullified all the decisions made by the Pinnick-led board, including the sacking of Stephen Keshi.
