Lt Mayowa Areago who graduated from Nigerian Defence Academy in 2012 and was posted almost immediately to the North to help in the fight against Boko Haram was shot dead 3 days ago while trying to retreat from the battle front in Borno state.

 One of his distraught friends upon hearing of the incidence said: 

"Please help us appeal to the government to give our military the right weapons to defend this nation.
A lot of innocent people have died to defend you and I. I really want all Nigerians to celebrate this young, gallant, combatant Nigerian Army officer. Rest in the bosom of the Lord "Area"."
